The Saint Marys United Methodist Church Foundation has issued this challenge to us: Raise $25,000 for our ministry to people who are homeless, and they will give another $25,000! This is over and above the $50,000 they recently awarded to hire a Coordinator of Homeless Ministries! We appreciate their generosity and their challenge to the Glynn County community to assist in offering hospitality, resources, employment, housing, and other programs for those who endure acute or chronic homelessness.

The homeless are our Neighbors! Hundreds of our neighbors live in cars, under bridges, on an abandoned property, or bounce from couch to couch in homes of family, friends, and even strangers. Some struggle daily with mental illness. Others suffered illness or accident putting them into financial ruin. Still, others made a series of poor judgments leading them to be in a homeless situation. Many can recover with a little direction, an ID card, a job, some health care, or a little rest.

Hopefully, the period of time that someone suffers homelessness will be a short leg of a long journey. They did not get to this place overnight, but many can and do move beyond homelessness and find a more secure way of life. Many found their way to The Well where they discover they have not reached a dead end and find hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Building Trust through Service!

Many have put their trust in FaithWorks. We started more than 25 years ago by offering a place to stay for the homeless being discharged from the Brunswick Campus of Southeast Georgia Health System. We then developed some outreach ministries to those who were sleeping under bridges and near the docks. We opened the Well (open from 7 AM until 5 PM 365 days a year), and then began Open Doors where we hire people who are homeless to renovate houses in Brunswick.  Over 100 people who are homeless come to The Well each day for showers, laundry, internet access, information about jobs and resources in the area, and other services essential to wellness and human dignity.

Let’s Be There for Our Neighbors!

When you join us on this journey, you help provide services at The Well or through Sparrow’s Nest. A special gift today will help us with the St. Marys UMC Foundation challenge. But I also want to invite you to join us on the journey as a volunteer. And, most importantly, we covet your prayers for this ministry.

To Contribute, use the secure donation form on this page to complete your gift. Or, you may contribute by sending a check marked “Challenge Gift” to FaithWorks/PO Box 2902/Brunswick/GA/31521.  For more information, you may contact Charles Molloy at 912.261.8512 ext. 113 or
